A summary of the ProOne ProMax shower filter replacement cartridge:
1. Unscrew the shower filter from the tap or shower arm by turning it anti-clockwise
2. Unscrew the casings from one another by turning the top and bottom in opposite directions
3. Remove the replacement filter. Ensure that the O-rings remain in the correct grooves within the filter housings. The upper housing holds 2 O-rings. The lower housing holds 1 O-ring.
4. Fit the new replacement filter. PLEASE NOTE: The side of the replacement filter with the mesh is the top!
5. Tighten the casings back on
6. Replace the Teflon tape on the tap or shower arm and reattach the shower filter to the tap or shower arm, tightening it clockwise (PLEASE NOTE!! Do NOT overtighten it)
7. Let the water run for 15 seconds without standing under it yourself
7. You’re all set again and can enjoy the ProOne ProMax shower filter once more
Comments:
– If there is a leak between the two housings after replacing the filter, try tightening them further. If this does not help, loosen the housings and check that the O-ring is sitting correctly in the groove. If necessary, you can turn the O-ring round. Then tighten the housings securely again and test once more. Keep repeating these steps until the leak has stopped.
– Replace the filter every 6 to 9 months.

The internal filter seems to be working perfectly well. Do bear in mind, however, that the water pressure at the shower head is noticeably lower; that isn’t really a problem, but it’s good to know.
