Damaged Berkey systems are supplied with the same parts and brand-new ones Black Berkey filter cartridges. The damage occurred during the manufacturing process and may take the form of scratches, dents, stains or discolouration on the housing (the upper and lower stainless steel chambers) and the damage is minor. Damaged Big Berkey water filters are marked with a “B” stamped on the upper and lower stainless steel chambers, indicating that there is NO warranty covering cosmetic defects in the chambers. On all other parts (including the Black Berkey filter cartridges) The standard warranty does, of course, apply.

We always receive a large stock of damaged items. However, it is difficult to say exactly where the damage is on each item, as it varies from one to the next. It is simply not feasible for us to unpack them all and identify where the damage is. We trust you’ll understand this, and we already have many satisfied customers with this product. You can see in the images that examples of any damage. Sometimes the damage is on the inside or at the back, but it may also be more visible. The examples therefore give you an idea of what to expect.

The Big Berkey water filter comes as standard with 2 original Black Berkey filter cartridges and can be extended to 4 elements. The unit has a capacity of approximately 8.5 litres of water, which is more than enough for most purposes. You can use the Black Berkey filter cartridges for several years, meaning you’ll quickly recoup the cost of the unit compared to other brands of water filters.

The housing is made of polished stainless steel (304), ensuring long-term durability.

Contents of the box

The Big Berkey water filter box contains: two stainless steel chambers (top and bottom), 2 Black Berkey filter elements, 1 stainless steel lid, 1 plastic tap (with fixing materials), 2 wing nuts (for Black Berkey filter elements), 2 washers (for Black Berkey filter elements), 1 priming button (to prime the Black Berkey filter cartridges) and 2 sealing plugs (to fill the spare holes, which can therefore be used to expand the water filter with additional Black Berkey filter cartridges).
 

Installation

You can easily assemble the Big Berkey in a matter of minutes without any tools. The first step in setting up a Berkey water filter is to prime the Black Berkey filter cartridges. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise it will take a very long time to purify the water.
