Ultra Sterasyl Water Filter Cartridge

The replacement ceramic filter for use in all British Berkefeld gravity-fed water filters: Ultra Sterasyl. This silver-impregnated ceramic microfilter with granular activated carbon removes not only heavy metals but also bacteria, chemicals and chlorine. The Ultra Sterasyl water filter cartridge filters particles as small as 0.5 microns (that is 500 nanometres) with an efficiency of no less than 99%.

The Ultra Sterasyl water filter cartridge (formerly ATC Super Sterasyl) is handcrafted by British professionals to reduce common contaminants such as bacteria, chlorine and heavy metals (including lead). Designed to significantly improve the clarity, taste and odour of drinking water, this filter cartridge is inspired by nature and made from natural raw materials to deliver superior flow rates in gravity-fed water filters, without removing naturally occurring minerals from your water.

The Ultra Sterasyl water filter cartridge produces safe and great-tasting filtered drinking water, removing up to 99.99% of common contaminants. Each Ultra Sterasyl cartridge filters up to 1,500 litres of water. Alternatively, you should replace it after 6 months.

Each Ultra Sterasyl filter can purify approximately 20 litres per filter element per 24-hour period. Furthermore, they are so powerful that they are capable of effortlessly purifying river water, ditch water and groundwater into safe drinking water.

Installation

Rinse the Ultra Sterasyl filter elements briefly under a cold tap to remove any manufacturing residue. Then place the filter elements in the upper chamber and fill the upper chamber with water. Let the water run through; the filtration rate will increase as the filter elements slowly fill with water. Discard the first run-off water (or use it to water your plants). You’re then ready to use the system!
 

Maintenance tips for the Ultra Sterasyl water filter cartridge

It is best to clean the Ultra Sterasyl (formerly ATC Super Sterasyl) filter elements once a month using a scouring pad under running cold water. This removes the layer of deposits caused by the substances removed from the water, allowing water to flow through the filter elements more freely again. Again, depending on the type of water being purified, you may need to clean them more often than once a month.
