Berkey PrimeRite Universal Primer + PF-2 adapter – These parts are ideal for Berkey users to help with priming the Berkey filter cartridges.
 

The product contains the following components:

● 1x PrimeRite Universal Primer: a handy tool for the Black Berkey filter cartridges to prime it using the tap.
● 1x PrimeRite Fluoride & Arsenic filter adapter: an adapter that also allows you to use the Fluoride & Arsenic filters easy to prime.

The first step in setting up a Berkey water filter is, in fact, to prime the Black Berkey filter cartridges. It is important that this is done correctly, otherwise it will take a very long time to purify the water. Priming must be carried out before you insert the Black Berkey elements into the Berkey water filter. Priming involves forcing a small amount of water through the cartridge under slight pressure to ensure that the inside of the Black Berkey purification cartridge becomes wet (air is expelled from the cartridge). This allows you to benefit from the high filtration rate of each cartridge. To prime the cartridges, you can use a Priming Button, a small rubber ring that allows you to slide the cartridge onto a tap. This is always supplied as standard with the Black Berkey filter cartridges in the box. Alternatively, you can use this Berkey PrimeRite Universal Primer. You’ll also receive an adapter for the Fluoride & Arsenic filters. These filters must be thoroughly flushed through before use (this is also known as ‘priming’), to ensure that all residual manufacturing substances are removed.
