A water filter is almost impossible to imagine these days, and products from Berkey, BOROUX and Pure Filters (Coldstream) are very popular for purifying drinking water both at home and on the go. They are capable of removing a wide range of contaminants, including chemicals, microplastics, PFAS, heavy metals, pesticides and drug residues, among others. And all the brands we carry in our range are designed to retain precisely the essential minerals. They also work without power, which also makes them ideal for emergency situations.

Pure Filters' water filters can be easily installed without electricity or water connection. Water is added into the upper container of the water filter and flows down through the microscopic pores of the Coldstream FTO PLUS filter element, which prevent contaminants and other pollutants from passing through it. This leaves only clean, potable water in the lower tank.
A Pure Filters water filter is made of 304 stainless steel for long-lasting durability. Stainless steel water filters are very popular in homes and offices because of their versatility, ease of use and reduction of plastic waste. More durable and aesthetically pleasing than plastic. It is a more hygienic option than plastic, less prone to bacteria or mould growth and has a higher resistance to corrosion.

The Pure Filters water filter is easy to install, without tools or electricity. We refer to our library, here include manuals, instructional videos and answers to frequently asked questions. Here, for example, is the manual for a Pure Filters water filter. Here is also a short step-by-step guide:
1. Remove the product from the box and set the filter elements aside for now.
2. Clean the trays, lid and tap with liquid mild detergent. DO NOT PUT IN THE DISHWASHER! Dry with a soft cloth.
3. Attach the tap to the lower container and attach the knob to the lid.
4. Remove the filter elements from the packaging. If necessary, remove the wing nut and washer from the filter stem. While holding the plastic base of the filter element with one hand, hold it under running cold tap water, rinse and scrub lightly for 2 minutes with an abrasive sponge. MAKE SURE NO WATER GETS INTO THE FILTER ELEMENT HANDLE!
5. Insert the stem (with rubber washer on it) of the filter element through the hole in the upper tray. Tighten the wing nut on the UNDER SIDE of the upper tray. Do not over-tighten. Do this with all the filter elements you want to use or cap the remaining holes with a blocking plug.
6. Place the upper tray on top of the lower tray.
7. Fill the upper container with water and place the lid. DO NOT USE HOT WATER!
8. Still discard the first two cycles of filtered water.
9. You are now ready to use and can enjoy the filtered water.
CAUTION: Do not place this filter in direct sunlight
When transporting your system, the advice is to loosen the filters. Let them dry and then roll them in a terry towel. Then place them in the stainless steel or plastic casing and make sure they are secure (use more towels if necessary) to prevent them from shifting or breaking.
Remove the Coldstream FTO PLUS filters from your system and let them air dry. Wrap the filters in a terry towel and store them in a cool, dry place.
Lifetime: 1,500 litres or 6 months. Whichever occurs first. Of course, it is difficult to keep track of the number of litres, which is why we always recommend simply keeping to 6 months. No matter how many Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements you use, all should be replaced after 6 months.
If during those 6 months you notice a difference in the taste/odour of the water and/or experience a slowdown in the flow rate, this may indicate that your filters need cleaning. If after cleaning, the filter speed does not increase or you still notice the same taste/odour, then it is time to replace the filter elements.
We recommend cleaning the Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements once a month, as well as the containers and other parts of your water filter. However, if you notice a difference in the taste/odour of the water and/or experience a delay in the flow rate earlier, this may indicate that your filters need cleaning.
Cleaning
CAUTION: DO NOT use soap when cleaning a filter element. Make sure NO water gets into the stem of the filter element.
It is important that no water gets into the blue stem of the filter element. So hold the filter element by its base and hold it under cold running water for about 2 minutes. While water continuously flows over the filter element, lightly scrub the white ceramic exterior with a scouring pad. Rinse well and set aside until ready to reinstall.
The Coldstream FTO PLUS filter elements are easy to install, use and clean. Priming is not required and no additional filters are needed to remove fluoride. Before installation, just rinse the outside briefly under the cold tap and, if necessary, sand lightly with an abrasive sponge to remove all production dust.
