BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element (1 piece)

The BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element fits most popular gravity water filter systems, including Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, Phoenix, Aqua Logic, Monderma, Pure Filters and Newton, among others. The filter element lasts for years and features Stem Saver technology for extra durability during use and cleaning.

This BOROUX filters out over 99% of chlorine, heavy metals, pharmaceutical contaminants (drug residues), pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, plastic & industrial contaminants (PFAS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microplastics and disinfection contaminants, among others. The essential minerals your body needs are retained in the process.

The filter includes a special blend of activated carbon. The BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element contains silver, an antimicrobial agent, to prevent micro-organisms from affecting the product itself. This filter is not intended to filter micro-organisms.
In addition, it is so powerful that it can remove red dyes from water without removing the beneficial minerals your body needs.

The BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter has been tested by an independent laboratory (IAPMO R&T Lab NJ, ISO/IEC 17025) according to NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53 and 401. See all test reports for more details and in doing so, clarity and transparency are paramount.

The BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter has been carefully designed to integrate seamlessly with most gravity water filtration systems, including Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, Phoenix, Aqua Logic, Monderma, Pure Filters, Newton and more. Whether renewing filters in your existing system or starting a new journey in water wellness, the filters are designed for wide compatibility in gravity water filters.

A BOROUX water filter (BOROUX Legacy™ or BOROUX Legacy™ Compact) comes standard with 2 original BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements. You can optionally expand the BOROUX Legacy™ water filter to 4 filter elements.
You can use the elements order per 2But with us, you can also order a separate filter element. Very handy if only one filter element in a water filter needs to be replaced (e.g. in case of damage or loss) or if you want to replace the element in, for instance, the Go Berkey (as it only has one).
 

The box of the BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element contains the following parts:

● 1x BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element
● 1x Black rubber ring: for between the filter element and the stainless steel container
● 1x Wing nut: for tightening the filter element
● 1x Priming Button: brown rubber ring for priming the filter element with the tap
● 1x PrimeRite Universal Primer: blue rubber tap attachment for priming the filter element
● 1x Bottle of red dye to do the red dye test
● 1x English-language manual (a Dutch-language manual can be downloaded in our library and is also sent via e-mail after ordering)
 
Preparing for use
The first step is priming the filter element. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise purifying the water will take a very long time. Should priming with the tap fail, a primer set order from us.
 

Maintenance of the BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter element

Scrub the BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter every 3-6 months. Gently scrub the surface of the filter for a few minutes with an abrasive sponge. DO NOT use soap or detergents on the filter. Prime the filter again, install it and perform the red dye test to ensure correct installation of the filter.
 

When to replace?

The BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter is designed to last for many years. However, we live in different times now than we did a few years ago. The number of contaminants has only increased and have become increasingly severe (think, for example, of PFAS or the hefty increase in medicine residues, pesticides, etc.). This has a huge effect on the filter, making it better to replace it a bit earlier. We therefore recommend replacing the BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter every 3 years maximum when using tap water. If you use water from another source, we recommend replacing earlier.
