The BOROUX Foundation Black filter element fits into most popular gravity water filter systems, such as:. Berkey, British Berkefeld, ProOne, Phoenix Gravity, Aqua Logic, Monderma, Pure Filters and Newton. The filter element is designed for long-term use and is equipped with Stem Saver technology for extra durability during use and cleaning.

 This BOROUX filter reduces, among other things, more than 99% chlorine, heavy metals, pharmaceutical contaminants (drug residues), pesticides, herbicides, insecticides, plastic & industrial contaminants (PFAS), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), microplastics and disinfection contaminants. The essential minerals that your body needs are retained.

By removing more than 99% of harmful contaminants, the BOROUX Foundation Black filter ensures that your water is as pure and refreshing as nature intended.  The filter consists of, among other things, a special mix of activated carbon. The BOROUX Foundation Black filter element contains silver, an antimicrobial agent, to prevent microorganisms from affecting the product itself. This filter is not intended to filter microorganisms.
It is also so powerful that it can remove red dyes from water without removing the useful minerals your body needs.

The BOROUX Foundation Black filter has been tested by an independent laboratory (IAPMO R & T Lab NJ, ISO/IEC 17025) according to NSF/ANSI standards 42, 53 and 401. See all test reports for more details and clarity and transparency are paramount.

Whether it's renewing filters in your existing installation or starting a new journey in water wellness, the filters are designed for broad compatibility in gravity water filters.

 A BOROUX water filter (BOROUX Legacy or BOROUX Legacy Compact) comes standard with 2 original BOROUX Foundation Black filter elements. You can expand the BOROUX Legacy water filter to 4 filter elements if necessary.
You can use the elements order per 2, but you can also order a separate filter element from us. Very useful if only one filter element in a water filter needs to be replaced (for example in the event of damage or loss) or if you want to replace the element in, for example, the Go Berkey (this only has 1 in it).
   

The box of the BOROUX Foundation Black filter element contains the following components: a

1x Wing nut: to tighten the filter element
1x Priming Button: brown rubber ring to prime the filter element with the tap
1x PrimeRite Universal Primer: blue rubber attachment for the tap to prime the filter element
1x English manual (a Dutch manual can be downloaded in our library and will also be sent via email after ordering)

 Prepare for use
The first step is to prime the filter element. It is important that this happens well, otherwise the water will take a very long time to purify. If priming with the tap is not possible, then one automatic primer pump or manual primer pump can be ordered from us.
   

Maintenance of the BOROUX Foundation Black filter element

 Scrub the BOROUX Foundation Black filter every 3-6 months. Gently scrub the surface of the filter with a scouring pad for several minutes. DO NOT use soap or cleaning products on the filter. Prime the filters again and reinstall them according to the instructions.
   

Lifespan of the BOROUX Foundation Black filter

The BOROUX Foundation Black filter is designed for long-term use. However, the actual life of the filter depends on several factors such as
the quality of the water;
the contaminants present and their concentrations;
the daily water consumption;
the substances you specifically want to filter.

BOROUX provides a general replacement recommendation, based on a broad group of users and water qualities. In practice, the optimal replacement period may differ per user.

Based on our experiences with Dutch tap water, we recommend replacing the filter with average use and the use of tap water maximum three years. This concerns a practical guideline and not a fixed replacement period.

If you use water with higher concentrations of certain contaminants (for example water from other sources), if you have high water consumption or want to maintain maximum certainty for specific substances, it is better to choose to replace the filters earlier.

If you want to determine exactly when replacement is necessary, only periodic analysis of the filtered water can provide a definitive answer.
