The British Berkefeld 6L Water Filter is a compact and portable gravity-fed water filtration system, complete with two Ultra Sterasyl (formerly ATC Super Sterasyl) filter elements for reducing common contaminants (including bacteria, cysts, algae, pharmaceutical residues, microplastics, sand, sediment, heavy metals (including lead)) and chlorine. The ideal solution for clean, filtered drinking water from the tap or when on the move. British Berkefeld water filters are also used by the Red Cross, UNICEF and other aid organisations to ensure a sufficient supply of safe drinking water in emergency areas.
The British Berkefeld 6L Water Filter is the ideal solution for providing clean and safe drinking water whilst travelling, in places with an unreliable supply of safe drinking water or where there is no pressure in a reliable water supply. Suitable for use at home, on a camping trip, for example, or in the event of an emergency.
This water filter does not require electricity or any other power source. Simply place it on your worktop, a table or a cupboard, fill it with water, and the water will flow by gravity into the lower section. You can then easily pour the water out of the lower container.
The British Berkefeld 6L Water Filter is so powerful that it can effortlessly purify water from the ground, a river or a ditch, turning it into safe drinking water. The filters remove more than 99.99% of bacteria! This water filter also removes lead and other heavy metals from the water!
There are three models available: British Berkefeld Water Filter 6L, British Berkefeld Water Filter 8.5L and British Berkefeld Water Filter 12L. The filtration performance of all models is similar; the difference lies in the weight and dimensions of the water filter and in the size of the reservoir for filtered water.
The British Berkefeld 6L Water Filter has a capacity of approximately 6 litres and comes with two Ultra Sterasyl (formerly ATC Super Sterasyl) filter cartridges. These last for 6 months or a total of 3,000 litres. Each filter cartridge can purify approximately 20 litres per 24 hours.
The casing is made from high-quality polished stainless steel.

The British Berkefeld 6L Water Filter can be easily assembled in a matter of minutes, without the need for tools. Make sure you give the containers, lid and tap (PLEASE NOTE: NOT the filter elements) a thorough clean beforehand using warm water and washing-up liquid (preferably a mild, natural one). Rinse these parts thoroughly to ensure no soap residue remains. Simply rinse the filter cartridges briefly under a cold tap to remove any manufacturing residue. Then place the filter cartridges in the top container and fill it with water. Let the water run through; the filtration rate will increase as the filter elements slowly fill with water. Discard the first run-through water (or use it to water your plants). You’re then ready to use the system!
You can simply clean the containers, lid and tap of the British Berkefeld water filter using warm water and washing-up liquid (preferably a mild, natural one). Make sure you clean everything thoroughly (paying particular attention to the edges) and rinse it well, so that no soap residue remains. Depending on the type of water being filtered, you can clean it anywhere from once a week to once a month.
The Ultra Sterasyl (formerly ATC Super Sterasyl) filter elements or Ultra Fluoride filter elements It is best to clean it once a month using a scouring pad under cold running water. This will remove the layer of build-up caused by the substances that have been removed from the water, allowing water to flow through the filter elements more freely again. Again, depending on the type of water being purified, you may need to clean it more often than once a month.
