The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter element has been tested by independent external laboratories to remove or reduce a wide range of typical water contaminants found in water supplies, including: perfluorinated “forever chemicals” (PFAS, PFOA & PFOS), synthetic organic compounds – industrial and agricultural chemicals (SOCs), heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), other water contaminants, unpleasant odours and tastes, and more. The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter cartridge does not remove essential healthy minerals such as magnesium and calcium from the water, nor does it alter the total dissolved solids (TDS) level. Consequently, TDS levels remain unchanged; however, a TDS level does not indicate anything about water quality.
Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter cartridges are certified to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for the reduction of non-health-related contaminants, i.e. aesthetic impurities such as chlorine, chloroamines and particles that affect taste and odour. They are also certified to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 – reduction of lead contaminants. NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 complies with the US Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and its associated requirements for lead-free pipework, as well as with the requirements of individual US states (the designation “CAN” stands for “Canada”, with Health Canada collaborating with NSF and ANSI to develop these standards for products that come into contact with drinking water).

The PrimeEasy™ Universal Primer (or similar tool) supplied is extendable and adapts to most tap heads and taps. This ensures smoother and more efficient operation thanks to a sealed, leak-free connection whilst priming your filter. Priming is an essential step in the installation process. It involves using running water from your tap to flush manufacturing residues from the filters before first use. It also expels air from the pores of the filter elements, allowing the water to flow freely. The priming process is recommended when using the filter for the first time or after a long period of inactivity.
The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter cartridge is designed for all Berkey water filters, including the Go Berkey Kit, Travel Berkey, Berkey Light, Big Berkey, Royal Berkey, Imperial Berkey and Crown Berkey, plus most other brands of gravity-fed water filter systems.
It is recommended that this filter element be replaced every year or after a maximum of 10,000 litres (per filter). The filters may need to be replaced sooner, depending on the quality of the water source.

The first step is to prime the Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition™ filter cartridge. It is important that this is done correctly, otherwise it will take a very long time to purify the water.
