Prime Service: We prime the Berkey or BOROUX filter elements for you

Prime Service - The first step in preparing a Berkey or BOROUX water filter is to prime Berkey or BOROUX filter elements. It is important that this is done properly, otherwise purifying the water will take a very long time. Priming should be done before placing the so Berkey or BOROUX elements in the water filter. Priming involves forcing some water through the element under a slight pressure to ensure that the Berkey or BOROUX purification element gets wet inside (air goes out of the element). As a result, you benefit from considerable filtering speed from each element. For priming, you can use a Priming Button or PrimeRite, tools that allow you to saturate the element with water on a tap. This comes standard with the Berkey or BOROUX filter elements. On our pages with Berkey instructional videos or BOROUX instructional videos you can see how priming works.

However, you can also choose to have us do it for you: the Prime Service. Indeed, priming is a process that takes some time to get the hang of and can therefore be a bit tricky. Also, not every tap is suitable for priming. Of course, you can also opt for the BOROUX Automatic Filter Primer Pump Whether the Black Berkey Primer, these are tools that mean you no longer need a tap for priming. However, if you don't feel like doing all this, choose our Prime Service.
 

Our Prime Service

With the Prime Service, we prime the Black Berkey filter elements, BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements and/or Fluoride & Arsenic (PF-2) filter elements before they are dispatched. Should you have included the Fluoride & Arsenic (PF-2) filter elements in an order, in addition to the normal Berkey or BOROUX filter elements, you will of course only need to order Prime Service once. We prime everything in 1 go for the same price. This of course also applies if you have ordered several sets of the same filter elements.

So we take them out of the packaging, clean them and then prime them. With the Black Berkey and BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements, we then also test them immediately to see if they pass the red dye test and if the filter speed is right. If everything is OK, we let them drain for a while and then they go straight into the packaging and your order is dispatched. When they arrive, you then don't need to prime them as they are still moist enough. You still need to rinse them with cold water. After that, you can insert them directly into your water filter!
 

PLEASE NOTE: You cannot order this service if you live in a country other than the Netherlands and Belgium. The delivery time will then be too long, which means there is a good chance the filters will be too dry again and the priming will have to be done again.
