The universal stainless steel sight glass tap for 6L and 8.5L water filters is an accessory that adds both style and functionality. It complements the design of stainless steel water filters. By replacing the tap supplied as standard, this high-quality stainless steel sight glass tap allows you to read the water level directly in the lower chamber of your 6 or 6.8-litre stainless steel water filter. You’ll then know for certain when it’s time to refill the upper chamber.
With most gravity-fed water filters, you have to lift the top container to see how much water is left in the bottom one. But a quick glance at the sight glass is all you need to determine the exact water level in your stainless steel water filter. Ideal for the 6L and 8.5L versions of Berkey and Pure Filters.
However, the stainless steel sight glass tap, which is suitable for 6L and 8.5L water filters, also fits most other brands of gravity-fed water filter systems, including Berkey and Pure Filters, as well as British Berkefeld, Phoenix Gravity, Moderna, Alexapure, AquaCera, Patriot Pure, etc.
The housing is made of stainless steel and consists of a glass tube that allows you to read the water level quickly and easily. This tap with a sight glass is fitted with a plastic handle (approved for food safety) with two settings and a 19 cm sight glass. When it’s time to clean your stainless steel water filter, simply remove the tap, take out the sight glass via the cap at the top, and rinse the glass tube with soap and water. Then leave it to air dry.

1. Remove the nut and all four parts (cover plates and white rings) from the threaded stem of the tap
2. Remove the blue plastic protective film from both stainless steel cover plates. Place a stainless steel cover plate and then a white ring onto the threaded stem of the tap.
3. Insert the threaded rod through the hole in the lower chamber of the water filter.
4. Place a white ring and then a stainless steel cover plate onto the threaded stem on the inside of the lower chamber of the water filter.
5. Secure it with the nut. You may need a spanner to tighten it properly. Alternatively, you can hold the nut from the inside and turn the tap from the outside. Do not overtighten it, but it must not leak.

I didn’t quite manage to put it together, and what I find a shame is that there isn’t a red float in the sight glass. I find it difficult to see how high the water level is.
