Wing nut for Black Berkey- and BOROUX Foundation™ Black filter elements features:
CAUTION! Do not tighten the wing nuts. In fact, this is not possible because on the other side of the hole is the rubber washer. This, of course, provides some slack because it is flexible. If you keep tightening, the flexibility will once run out and too much tension will be put on the wing nut. This can damage the groove of the wing nut. Our advice is therefore to just tighten it until it is 'on' (you feel resistance), which will be enough.

Because the Berkey needs to be cleaned regularly, the wing nuts lose strength and twist through. This is where Berkey should come up with another system. The new nuts work perfectly again
